After a series of storms in late May and early June caused damage across the DFW area, the Federal Emergency Management Agency approved disaster aid for individuals and businesses. Now, the Biden administration has approved Dallas County's request for public assistance.
Cities and other government agencies will be able to receive federal help to pay for repairs to buildings, roads, and other public facilities that were damaged by the storms. The county had to report at least $12 million worth of damage to public structures to qualify for the federal aid program.
"We appreciate this declaration by President Biden which will allow the county and our cities to receive reimbursement for cost we incurred in the windstorm and power outage that occurred in late May and early June," Dallas County Judge Clay Lewis Jenkins said in a written statement.
