A two-alarm fire broke out Friday night at Hulen Mall’s second-floor rooftop near the Macy’s - Red Robin section, triggering a full evacuation as thick smoke poured inside and shattered skylights fell “like small bombs.”

Firefighters contained the blaze in under an hour - calling a third alarm then bringing it under control by roughly 8:10 p.m. - with only one minor injury reported and water damage affecting several stores.

Investigators are probing the fire's origin, noting that roof maintenance took place earlier in the day, though no direct link has been confirmed.

The mall remains partially closed while crews assess damage; Macy’s and Dillard’s have since reopened, but the affected wing around Red Robin remains offline pending repairs.
