Both Dallas Fire-Rescue and Fort Worth Fire crews had several water-related calls during Wednesday’s severe weather, including several reports of vehicles in water and high-water rescues.

In Dallas, one rescue happened around 6:32 p.m. near Abrams Road after a man fell from a bridge into the water below. Crews found him stuck in a culvert, unable to get out because of the slippery sides.

A DFR swift-water boat pulled the man to safety around 7:18 p.m. He was not taken to the hospital.

DFR also responded to 85 motor vehicle crashes between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. as storms moved through Dallas.

In Tarrant County, Fort Worth firefighters responded to at least 20 high-water calls Thursday as heavy rain moved through North Texas.

The fire department says there have been no deaths or injuries reported from flooding or high water.

By noon, fire and medical crews had already handled more than 400 calls — close to the 500 calls they typically handle in an entire day.

Officials say it’s too early to know how many crashes were tied to the rain or whether anyone was hurt in those crashes.
