Fort Worth firefighters rescued a dog that had fallen 20 feet into an old water well cistern in River Oaks, officials say.

The Fort Worth Fire Department responded to the call in River Oaks, where the dog, named Hank, was trapped in a confined space. Crews devised a plan to reach him safely.

A firefighter, secured by a rope, was lowered into the well in a rescue operation that took about three and a half minutes. Hank was safely retrieved and given oxygen by emergency responders.

Authorities said the dog was checked for injuries and is doing well.
