Bodycam footage of an officer-involved shooting in Fort Worth released

Fort Worth (1080 KRLD)- Bodycam footage from a Fort Worth officer involved in a shooting over the weekend has been released.

Police say the officer fatally shot a man who pointed a gun at him after an attempted carjacking on Sunday.

The shooting happened when officers responded to the attempted carjacking in the 400 block of Fairview Street at 1:35 p.m.

Police chief Neil Noakes says the suspect fled on foot when unsuccessful, but the officer quickly caught up with him.

As the officer approached the suspect, Noakes said the suspect pulled a handgun and pointed it at the officer. He says the officer gave commands for the suspect to drop the weapon several times and when he did not, the officer shot the suspect six times.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The officer is a 4 year veteran of the department and has been placed on administrative leave.
