ALLEN (1080 KRLD) - A former teacher at Allen High School has been arrested and charged with having an improper relationship with a student.

Jeffrey Miranda is a former art teacher at Allen High School. Police say he turned himself in yesterday.

"We prepared a warrant for his arrest; He turned himself in," says Sgt. Jon Felty, with the Allen Police Department. Felty says there was no physical contact between Miranda and the student.

"It was all done either on the internet or by electronic communication," Felty says, adding that the student is 18-years-old.

The Allen ISD says, because of the allegations, Miranda is no longer an employee with the district. He was notified of his termination on Jan. 20, officials say.

"Jeffrey Miranda is no longer employed by Allen ISD," says David Hicks, a representative of the Allen ISD. "The school district will fully cooperate with law enforcement officials during their investigation."
