A former North Texas pastor has been indicted on multiple child pornography charges, court records show.

Jim Mustain, 64, was indicted July 23 in Denton County on four counts of possession of child pornography, a first-degree felony. He remains in custody on a $500,000 bond.

Mustain was arrested April 25 in Ashe County, North Carolina, on warrants issued by the Lewisville Police Department. He was extradited to Texas and booked into the Denton County Jail on May 14.

An arrest affidavit states Mustain’s then-wife reported in 2023 that he had inappropriate images of children, mostly girls ages 6 to 10, on his iPad. The case was initially closed but reopened after a new report in November 2024.

He faces four counts of possession or promotion of lewd visual material depicting a child and one count of possession of child pornography, allegedly committed in February, records show.

Mustain previously served as a community pastor at Preston Trail Community Church in Frisco from 2019 to 2023. Lewisville ISD said it notified parents of his arrest and confirmed he had volunteered with student groups at Durham Middle School and Creekside Elementary.
