A former Plano police detective has been sentenced to more than a decade in federal prison for his role in running a dangerous drug ring.
Federal Judge Sean Jordan of Plano sentenced Frank Dockery, 48, to nearly 11-years in prison for helping run an oxycodone and fentanyl drug ring at night while he was working as a cop during the day.
Dockery is a former Plano Police detective, a SWAT sniper and a firearms instructor. Last year he and 10 other members of a gang dubbed The Bussell gang, were caught after a Fairview man died from an overdose
Court records say the gang had been operating for about 4 years. And Dockery admitted in court that he used his police gun to protect other gang members.
Plano police chief Ed Drain declined comment saying in an e-mail “it is not our case and he is no longer our employee.”
