A former North Texas educator who was involved in children’s ministries at area churches was arrested Thursday on a charge of possession of child pornography, authorities said.
Detectives with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office say a search warrant was executed at a home in Venus as part of an ongoing investigation into the possession of child pornography.
Officials said Andrew Daniel Centeno confessed to possessing child pornography and was taken into custody at the scene. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail.
Investigators confirmed Centeno was employed by the Venus Independent School District in various capacities from 2020 through the end of 2024. Authorities also said he had been involved in children’s ministries at multiple churches in the area.
"The safety and well-being of children in our community remain out highest priority," said Johnson County Sheriff officials. "We are asking anyone who had contact with Andrew Centeno or who may have relevant information to come forward immediately."
It was not immediately clear whether Centeno has retained an attorney. He is being held on a $150,000 bond.
