The Fort Bliss soldier who went AWOL to North Korea and who now has been sent home in disgrace has reportedly been detained by the US Army.
Private Travis King is up on military counts of desertion and child pornography.
The development is reported by the Associated Press which claims to have seen charging documents supplied by an anonymous source King went AWOL to the North Korean side after being released from a South Korean prison where he had served two months for assault.
The Army was sending him back to Fort Bliss for further disciplinary actions when he bolted from the airport and joined a civilian tour group that visited the demilitarized zone separating South Korea from the North. He suddenly ran for it to the North Korean side.
After two months, the North Koreans expelled him without explanation.
