A Fort Worth animal shelter that had closed due to an outbreak of canine flu is up and running again.
The Silcox Animal Care and Adoption Center was closed for six weeks in order to combat the canine flu outbreak. During that time, shelter staffers thoroughly cleaned the entire building as wells as the HVAC system.
The City of Fort Worth says while cleaning the HVAC system won't fully eradicate canine flu or other airborne diseases, it will minimize odors and infectious airborne contaminants.
Now that the animal population is much healthier, the shelter has resumed full operations.
