Hardworking Marines and adorable puppies made for a happy combo yesterday in Arlington.
“We figured we could help in some way by bringing fuzzy little puppies to hold,” says Lauren Anton, Director of Saving Hope Rescue in Fort Worth.
The nonprofit helped organize a “puppy party” for members of the military who have been helping with vaccine distribution here in North Texas.

Anton says about 50 Marines gathered outside near Globe Life Field yesterday afternoon. They’re all from Camp Pendleton in Southern California, and many of them have been away from their families since February.
“I was talking to one woman and she has two dogs at home and two children,” Anton says. “And she hasn’t seen them. They’re not allowed to come visit because it’s a state order to come here and help with the vaccine.”
The Marines enjoyed beautiful weather, fresh air and sunshine while playing with about a dozen high-spirited puppies.
“They loved them,” Anton says. “They were really happy and said they wanted to do it again soon.”
