The bishop of Fort Worth has the pope's blessing to investigate an Arlington nun.

Fort Worth Bishop Michael Olson is investigating the Reverend Mother Teresa Agnes Gerlach, alleging that she violated her vow of chastity earlier this year by committing adultery with a priest from outside the Fort Worth diocese.

Gerlach sued Bishop Olson, saying he overstepped his authority.

Yesterday, Pope Francis issued a decree giving Olson governing authority over the Monastery of the Most Holy Trinity, where Gerlach serves as prioress.

Gerlach's lawyer says the allegations against her are false, and that the pope's decree is restricted to the governing function of the Catholic Church and has no authority over Texas law.
