Should Fort Worth extend it's teen curfew? City leaders want to hear from citizens before taking action.
Fort Worth has had a teen curfew since 1994. By state law, the city is required to reauthorize it every three years and that's precisely what Assistant Police Chief Robert Alldredge is asking the City Council to do.
Under current Fort Worth laws, individuals under age 17 who are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian are required to be off the streets from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on weekdays and from midnight to 6:00 a.m. on weekends.
Over the last two years, Fort Worth police say they have cited at least 48 minors for curfew violations.
The ordinance is scheduled to expire on January 14, 2023 if the Fort Worth city council takes no action.
