A Fort Worth police officer has been fired after the department determined he showed up at work a few months ago drunk.

Police say Officer Marvin Simon, who served the Fort Worth police department for over two decades was terminated following an investigation into an incident, where Simon was reportedly found asleep in his patrol car and determined to be intoxicated while on duty.

Reports show the incident occurred in early June and Simon was stripped of all police authority and placed on restricted duty while under investigation until he was determined to have violated multiple policies of the department.

The Police department issued a statement that said, "The department is committed to the highest standards of professionalism. In this case, Officer Simon did not conduct himself in a manner that represents the professionalism of our officers."

The statement goes on to say it will hold all employees accountable and will continue to be transparent with the community.
