Fort Worth fire chief pleased with vaccine rollout in city

FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Fort Worth Fire Chief Jim Davis says he's pleased with how the vaccination effort has been going thus far.

"We've got a good cooperation with the county and the city," says Chief Davis. "The teams have been really turning the vaccines that we're able to get. They've been turning it out the same week."

In the early stages of the rollout, Davis says they were able to fine-tune the process to ensure that patients get in and get out in a timely manner.

"They've really worked hard to understand the process to get people through in a timely flow, and they've made improvements on that from day one," says Davis.

Walk-ups are not permitted at any of the vaccination sites in Tarrant County; everyone must have an appointment.

Vaccination sites in Arlington and Hurst have had to temporarily close this week after they ran out of doses.

That's something that Davis says the county is working to prevent as more people schedule their shots.

"The only issue that we're really having is making sure that we keep a sustained supply chain of vaccines arriving here in Fort Worth and in Tarrant County," Davis says.

Davis says the city and county are also working to bring vaccination locations to local communities in places like community centers and fire stations.
