With a record-setting high of 109 yesterday, firefighters had a miserable time battling a fire in a heavily wooded area near I-30 and Loop 820 in far east Fort Worth.
Commanders called in about 70 firefighters to have enough manpower to rotate crews on-and-off the fireline to make sure everyone had plenty to drink and plenty of time to recover.
It took several hours to bring the flames under control.
The Fort Worth Fire Department says it's had eight times as many grass fires this month compared to last July.
