Fort Worth firefighters rescued several pets from a burning home in Fort Worth, but two cats didn't survive.
The Red Cross is now helping the nine people who lost their home.
Firefighters were called out to the house on Chenault Street in Northeast Fort Worth near 121 and Riverside around 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
When they got there, they could see heavy fire coming from the back. Some of them worked to put the fire out, while others went inside looking for victims.
They found more than a dozen pets in the house suffering from smoke inhalation. Crews were able to resuscitate most of them in the front yard. Animal control is now taking care of them.
One person in the house did have minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. No word yet what started that fire.
