Fort Worth ISD connects students to careers this summer

FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - This summer, the Fort Worth ISD is connecting students to careers by offering more than 140 internship and mentoring programs this summer.

The program is open to students of all ages.

"This is kind of a once-in-a-summer opportunity for all of our students from elementary to high (school)," says Clint Bond, Fort Worth ISD spokesman.

The school district has had a program like this for around 30 years.

Some of the companies and organizations partnering with the Fort Worth ISD include Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopter, Hyatt Corporation, Texas Instruments and the City of Fort Worth.

"In some cases, they can actually shadow workers, or sometimes they can just talk to you in a mentor setting," says Bond.

Each internship lasts one week; and while many programs will be in-person, some will be offered virtually or in a hybrid format.
