The Defense Department is committing to another two years in its contract to have Lockheed build the F-35 fighter jet.

The contracts provide that Lockheed Martin will continue to provide services like training, maintenance and logistical support for the F-35 program.

While Lockheed is headquartered in Maryland, the F-35's are built by workers in the company's Fort Worth plant.

Fort Worth Lockheed Martin supports more than 18,000 jobs.
