A man has been sentenced in a 2019 stabbing murder at a Fort Worth grocery store.

The victim -- who lived at a nearby assisted living center -- was attacked at Como Grocery on Bonnell Avenue about five blocks west of Lake Como Park.

Prosecutors said Sammy Sparks was picking on the victim, who was just trying to buy some meat.

The conflict escalated until Sparks pulled a knife and plunged it into the victim.

Sparks was arrested right there and was convicted on one count of murder.

On Monday, he was sentenced to 28 years. Sparks is 68 years old.
