Fort Worth man sentenced to life for murder of man during a robbery

A Fort Worth man will be locked up for life after being convicted of gunning down another man in front of his wife while committing a robbery.

Marquis Sypho, 26, has prison walls to look forward to for the rest of his life after a jury in Fort Worth convicted him of capital murder.

Since the state was not seeking the death penalty, the sentence is an automatic life sentence without any chance for parole.

Five years ago, Sypho and another man burst into the Save-A-Lot store located at James and I-20 to rob the clerks at gunpoint. One of the clerks was Jackie Huerta, whose husband happened to be in the store.

Reports say when Raymond Huerta tried to protect his wife he was shot dead by Sypho, who then severely beat Jackie as her husband's life faded away.

During closing arguments, prosecutor William Knight called Sypho a 'cold-blooded killer.'
