A brand new Texan just couldn't wait until after the eclipse, Sol Alvarez decided to make her entrance into this world about a half hour before totality.
Her mother Alicia wasn't due to deliver her second child until next week, but Sol had other plans! Her Fort Worth parents were worried about traffic but they made it to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center in time.
Sol was born at 1:04 Monday afternoon, weighs 6.7 ounces and both mother and baby are doing great.
Because she was born on the day of the eclipse, her parents decided on the name Sol, with is Spanish for sun. She joins four-year-old sister Luna, which is Spanish for moon.
