A man who shot his mother's boyfriend Saturday night got arrested Sunday by Fort Worth police.

31-year-old Trace Hemphill shot and killed 51-year-old Byron Blackwell, his mother's boyfriend on Saturday night. According to investigators, Hemphill showed up at his mother's home on North Fork Road to do laundry. He had been kicked out of the house several weeks ago but his mom allowed him back in to do laundry.

The mother and Blackwell were in the bedroom when Blackwell got up and headed out of the bedroom when Hemphill shot him.

The mom told police when she asked her son why he shot her boyfriend, Hemphill told her to be quiet.

Hemphill took off after the shooting but was arrested the day after. Investigation continues.
