Fort Worth police have released officer body-cam and dash-cam video showing a confrontation with a man who ended up being shot by officers who feared he was pulling a pistol on them.

This incident goes back to March 4th when a 9-1-1 caller said he was being threatened by a man claiming he was going to "pull the trigger" while keeping his right hand near the waistband of his shorts.

Based on what's in the videos, the first officers on-scene gave the man repeated chances to stop and lay on the ground. Believing he had a pistol, they also ordered him to put it down.

At one point, the man removed his shirt to show the butt of what looked like a handgun in his waistband. During this time, several of the officers used their Tasers but that had little to no effect on the man.

As this was going on, the man began walking toward a daycare center. Even though it was a Saturday, the officers had no way to know if anyone was in the building. As he walked up the daycare's driveway, the man pulled the apparent handgun and that's when the officers opened fire and the man went down with at least one bullet wound in his upper body.

Police have not identified the man but say he was taken to the hospital in stable condition. It turned out the pistol the man pulled was a Mace-brand pepper spray gun with a realistic looking butt and trigger mechanism.
