The Fort Worth school district has a new leader this morning, an interim one anyway.

The school board has named Karen Molinar as the interim Superintendent. She'll take over for Dr. Kent Scribner who will retire the end of the month.

Molinar is a Deputy Superintendent for the Fort Worth ISD, she supervises the Superintendent's leadership team and also oversees the Department of Policy and Planning.

"The Board is grateful to know we will have Mrs. Molinar's calm, confident leadership during this transition period to a new superintendent," said Board President Tobi Jackson. "She is liked and respected by her colleagues, and the District will be well served by her knowledge and guidance."

Molinar will serve as the Superintendent until the board names a permanent replacement. After a lone finalist for superintendent is named, there will be a 21-day waiting period, as required by Texas law.
