Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker has announced the creation of a new committee to examine if the city should build a rail system.

The committee will explore the creation of a rail system between Fort Worth’s entertainment districts, as well as ways to pay for the construction and operations. They will also look at legislative priorities and how different organizations can enhance tourism rail projects.

A new poll shows that only around 5% of Fort Worth residents use trains to get around the city. Experts say that's because of the city’s car-centric layout and dispersed population.
