This weekend, Fort Worth Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) will host a two-day MEGA Adoption Event on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 18-19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. They'll be set up at Will Rogers Memorial Center, Cattle Barn No. 1. Admission is free.
The goal is to find fur-ever homes for over 1,000 dogs and cats. All animals have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and they're available for only $10. If you're wanting a four-legged family member, rescues make the absolute best pets because they're so appreciative you saved their lives.
While it's important to spread the word about adopting, I also urge people to only take on this responsibility if you have the time and resources. Many folks think puppies and kittens are wonderful holiday presents, only to realize that the recipient can't manage a living being. Countless pets get returned to the shelter a few months later so please keep that in mind.
