As the heat wave continues into another week, Fort Worth's MedStar ambulance service reported at least 15 calls for heat-related stress over the weekend and ten of those were taken to the hospital with one in critical condition.
There were nine heat-related issues up through 9 p.m. Sunday but MedStar suspects the total will be greater than on Saturday when the final numbers are tabulated.
From the beginning of May, MedStar has responded to at least 141 heat-related incidents. Nearly 90 of those patients had to be taken to the hospital and six of those were listed in critical condition. The oldest was 89 and the youngest was a year-old baby.
