The Dallas Police Association and the Assist The Officer Foundation will hold a fundraiser on Friday, April 5 for a veteran police officer who was seriously wounded while trying to stop an erratic driver.

Officer Tyler Morris was shot in the hip in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 14. He is expected to take many months to recover from his injuries.

Police investigators say the suspect, a 17-year Dallas resident, fired five times at Officer Morris. The teenager was also charged with two additional aggravated robberies that occurred previously, including one in Dallas hours before the shooting and another incident in Glenn Heights in Ellis County involving a home invasion and an officer-involved shooting where one of the suspects was killed.

The fundraiser will start at 11 AM and will be held at the Dallas Police Association office located at 1412 Griffin Street East, Dallas, Texas, 75215. Call 214-747-6839 for directions.
