Keller police have arrested the person they say struck a 14-year-old while she was jogging just after 7 Thursday evening.
Police say 67-year-old Michael Mango of Ferris was drunk and speeding when he hit the teen on Bear Creek Parkway while she was in the crosswalk. Police arrested him for Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury and booked him into the Keller Regional Detention Facility.
Police say he did stay on the scene and is cooperating. Investigation is ongoing.
The teen is in critical condition at Baylor Scott & White Hospital. A GoFundMe has been set up for the victim saying Nina was training to join the Keller High School cross-country team when the accident happened.
According to the organizer she's now facing a brain injury and multiple fractures. Her road to recovery is expected to take at least a year. The GoFundMe was set up to help pay for her medical bills.
