U.S. Air Force Academy students are trying to raise funds for a memorial in honor of a fellow cadet who died in a small plane crash in Johnson County last week.
Cleburne High School grad Nick Duran was piloting a single-engine plane that crashed in a field near Cleburne, killing himself and a passenger.
In a GoFundMe page set up on Duran's behalf, fellow cadet Alyssa Naused writes: "to describe Nick as inspiring would be an understatement; Nick was one of the best."
Meanwhile, a wake in Duran's memory will be held tomorrow night at Keene Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
The funeral will be Friday night at the same church with burial on Saturday at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.
