The city of Galveston in Texas says the Stage 5 water restrictions are because of major water line breaks in homes and businesses.
This is because of a loss of power for heating caused by the long lasting freezing temperatures. The city says most people are dealing with low to no water pressure.
The city is asking people in Galveston to limit showers to five minutes or less.
Once water is restored, the city of Galveston says there will be a boil water notice.
This means water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
This is to ensure destruction of any harmful bacteria.
