GARLAND (1080 KRLD)- The Garland School District says it has been hearing the concerns about the spread of covid-19 in its schools, so it will now offer a parent-led virtual learning option for kids in Pre-k up to sixth grade.

The district says it starts Monday and will only be offered the first six weeks initially.  At that time, the district will review to determine if it will continue offering that virtual learning option.

Enrollment opens the morning of Thursday, August 19th and closes Friday, August 20th in the evening.

Students who are in the program can return to face-to-face learning at any time, but can not go back and forth.

As of Wednesday, 629 students and 84 staff members in the district have COVID-19.
