Drivers in Texas are seeing some relief at the pump this week as gas prices have dropped for the second consecutive week. The statewide average for regular unleaded gas currently stands at $3.60 per gallon. While this is a 14-cent decrease from last week, prices remain significantly higher than they were a year ago, up about 85 cents.
Gas Prices Across the State
The decrease in prices is reflected in cities across Texas:
- Dallas: $3.48 per gallon, down 17 cents from last week.
- Fort Worth: $3.50 per gallon, down 17 cents from last week.
- Lubbock: $3.30 per gallon, currently the lowest in the state.
- El Paso: $3.80 per gallon, currently the highest in the state.
Future Outlook
Despite the recent decrease, Triple A spokesperson Daniel Armbruster says it is too early to call this a trend. The market remains volatile due to global crude supply uncertainty. Any disruptions in global crude oil supply could cause prices to fluctuate in the coming weeks.
The national average for a gallon of gas has also dropped, falling 6 cents this week to $4.03.
