Gateway Church in Southlake issued another public apology on Sunday to the woman who accused former pastor Robert Morris of sexually abusing her during her childhood.
Church elder Tra Willbanks addressed Cindy Clemishire this week.
"We are sorry for our initial communication, which was clearly incorrect," he said. "You were a child, not a young lady."
Willbanks also said the church originally called Morris' actions with Clemishire an "inappropriate relationship," which he admitted wasn't correct.
Gateway also announced the resignation of James and Bridgette Morris, the son and daughter-in-law of Robert Morris. James Morris thanked the congregation this weekend...
"It truly has been an honor and a privilege to have this opportunity to share with you, to pray with you, to pray for you, to baptize people," he said. "And so it's just been such an honor to have this time to lead in this season and thank you for letting us do that."
Meanwhile, an independent legal team is continuing an investigation into the church's actions.
