FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A teenage girl is killed in Fort Worth, capping off a violent year in the city.
Police say at around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday night, Sherrell Whittley, 14, of Crowley was shot in the head during a large fight outside a home on Trail Lake Dr in southwest Fort Worth.
About 45 minutes later, she was pronounced dead at Harris Methodist Hospital.
Police say the investigation is continuing, and no other information is available at this time.
This was the 112th homicide in Fort Worth this year -- the most the city has had since 1995.
For comparison, police say at this time last year, there were 71 homicides in the city.
