General Motors plans to pump a half-billion dollars into its Arlington assembly plant to keep building the company's most profitable vehicles, their full size SUVs like Chevrolet Tahoes and Suburbans, GMC Yukons and the Cadillac Escalade.
On Thursday, the Arlington plant's executive director John Urbanic said the investment will help the factory "sustain and maintain current staffing levels."
Next year, GM will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Arlington plant's opening.
GM is Arlington's third largest employer, behind only the Arlington school district and UT-Arlington.
