Outgoing GOP Senator Thom Tillis is blasting President Trump's endorsement of Ken Paxton in the republican primary four months after it happened.
Tillis, of North Carolina, told CNN's Jake Tapper on State of the Union that had Senator John Cornyn won with the help of the president, the Republican Party would not have to spend the amount of money that has been pouring into the state.
"He made a colossal mistake," Tillis told Tapper. "John Cornyn is a great member of the U.S. Senate, Paxton has his challenges. We would not be spending tens or hundreds of millions of dollars in Texas had Cornyn have won."
Tillis said now is not the time for loyalty oaths.
"Republicans that go after other republicans for only being in the 95th percentile, I'd like for them to go find another party," Tillis said.
Paxton recently slammed comments from Cornyn calling the Attorney General a poor campaigner.
Paxton told Fox News that John Cornyn doesn't know his schedule and how many hours he's putting into the race.
