Governor Greg Abbott has activated the Texas Division of Emergency Management ahead of heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding across Texas.
The Governor said Texas stands ready to assist local officials as severe weather threatens communities across the state.
He is urging Texans to monitor local forecasts and road conditions and do what local leaders say to do.
Severe storms are possible in North and Northeast Texas with damaging winds and large hail.
Remnants of a hurricane will interact with a cold front leading to potential excessive rainfall in West, Northwest, Central, South, and Southeast Texas.
"I directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to activate state resources in anticipation of potential flash flooding," Abbott said. "Monitor forecasts and road conditions, heed guidance from state and local officials, and create an emergency plan."
