Governor Greg Abbott was in Denton, Texas Monday.
He was surrounded by republican lawmakers signing property tax relief legislation into law.
The legislation was Senate Bill 4, raising the Homestead Exemption from $100-thousand dollars to $140-thousand.
"For the first $140,000 of valuation of your home, it will not be subject to the school district property taxes," Abbott said.
"Which is the largest bulk of your property tax bill."
The Homestead exemption would jump to $200-thousand for the disabled and property owners older than 65.
This property tax relief will only come if the voters approve it in November.
