The Granbury man who was released from a Russian prison last year is now in the hospital, wounded while fighting the Russians along with Ukrainian forces.

The plight of Marine veteran Trevor Reed captured the headlines from 2020 to 2022 when he was imprisoned in Russia. His parents in Granbury worked steadily to have their son released and last year, he was returned to the US in a prisoner swap for a Russian drug smuggler.

Now the US State Department confirms Reed was fighting against the Russians with Urkainians soldiers when he was wounded.

The State Department makes it clear Reed was acting on his own and the US government takes no responsibility.

Reports say Reed was taken from the battlefield to a US Army hospital in Germany where his condition has not been released publicly.

In Granbury, Joey and Paula Reed are not commenting on the latest developments with their son.
