Dozens of Granbury residents walked out of Monday night’s City Council meeting as city leaders pushed back against efforts to recall the mayor and four council members.
The recall effort comes after the council voted earlier this year to annex about 2,200 acres near Meadow Wood Road, where plans call for a proposed data center known as Project Patriot.
Critics say city leaders did not provide enough information about the project before the annexation. More than 1,300 residents signed recall petitions, representing about 15% of the city’s population.
Mayor Jim Jarratt and council members defended their actions Monday, with Jarratt questioning the recall petition’s procedures.
Petitioners hope to put the recall on the November ballot.
A court fight over the proposed data center is also expected.
