Grand Prairie is celebrating the groundbreaking of their expansion of EpicCentral a 172-acre, City of Grand Prairie-owned park site with hotels, entertainment and restaurant venues, located near Highway 161 and Arkansas Lane.

Grand Prairie mayor Ron Jensen, a lifelong Grand Prairie resident, is excited to see the completion of the vision where the city isn't just living in the shadow of Arlington's entertainment area.

"It's been a dream come true," says Jensen. "We needed to get some family-friendly fun things to do for us (in Grand Prairie)."

The expansion of EpicCentral features two connecting hotels with a shared conference center, six restaurant spaces, and a parking garage.

The expansion will also include design elements boasting interactive technology and water-based light shows.  Surrounding the hotels and restaurants is a large outdoor open space with a covered stage for events, concerts and programs.

As for when the site will be complete?

"We're all waiting on steel, that is the name of the game right now," says Jenson.

He anticipates Chicken N Pickle, an entertainment and restaurant concept, will open at EpicCentral early next year, followed by the restaurants later in 2022, and the hotels and conference center in 2023.
