The Grand Prairie ISD board of trustees named Dr. Gabriel Trujillo as the lone finalist to be the district's new superintendent after parting ways with Jorge Arredondo after a months-long back-and-forth.
Trujillo has been in public education for three decades and is the superintendent in Nacogodoches ISD. He gradted from Wayland Baptist University in 1992 and completed a doctorate in education from Texas A&M Commerce in 2018.
Trujillo will follow Arredondo in the role, who the school board placed on administrative leave in September 2024 due to policy violations. He sued the district and filed a temporary restraining order before the he and Grand Prairie ISD finally parted ways last month.
