Some Grand Prairie school kids have new shoes for the new school year thanks to officers from the Grand Prairie Police Department.
Grand Prairie cops partnered up with the school district and its William B. Travis World Language Academy for the gifts.
The police department's Blue Shoes Program offers a free pair of shoes and socks to each child from pre-school through second grade.
The shoes and socks were put on each child by a police officer who took the time to wash the kids' feet, too. Plus the kids got a blue backpack and had the chance to get pictures taken with the officers.
Parents and teachers took to social media to thank the officers for a program that clearly connected with the kids.
