A former employee of a Grapevine church has been sentenced to ten years for embezzling more than a million dollars of church money.
However, Lara Lynn Ford is planning to apply for what is known as shock probation. Under shock probation, the judge sentences the inmate to a short term behind bars and then suspends the remainder of the sentence in favor of probation.
Ford worked for one of the area's largest mega-churches, Fellowship Church of Grapevine.
Two weeks ago, she pleaded guilty to a charge of property theft over $300,000.
A church audit showed more than a million dollars had been transferred to three bank accounts controlled by Ford who remains locked up in the Tarrant County jail.
