WEATHERFORD (1080 KRLD)- A gunman is dead in Parker County where Sheriff Russ Authier says some of his deputies and a Weatherford Police Officer and his dog were trying to serve a warrant at an address on Hancock Drive.
Authier says the wanted man started shooting and the law officers returned fire, killing the gunman at the scene. The police dog was also shot -- but is expected to recover after being rushed to a veterinarian for emergency care.
As is common in officer-involved shooting, the Texas Rangers will be taking over the investigation.
