It seems like everyone is sick these days.

Health officials are warning of a second surge of flu activity following the holiday season.

Respiratory virus levels are climbing across the US after weeks of decline. The CDC reports nearly 16.2% of clinical lab samples tested positive for the flu for the week ending January 27th. That's nearly a two-percent uptick from the week prior.

Doctor William Schaffner is a professor of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He has advice for people who are older, have chronic medical conditions, or are pregnant.

"Get out that mask if you are going indoors to a crowded environment,' says Dr. Schaffner. "be it religious services, concerts, basketball games, anything like that."

The CDC says at least 20 million people have gotten the flu since October.
