Friday is Opening Day at the State Fair of Texas and fair goers can expect a heavy police presence involving several different agencies.

Dallas Deputy Chief Sam Ismail runs the Dallas Police side of fair security.

He says they have been meeting regularly in recent days and weeks to finalize both security and traffic plans.

"As you enjoy the fair, you will see strong presence from the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Area Rapid Transportation DART officers, along with officers from other agencies and State Fair safety personnel," Deputy Chief Ismail said.

The Fair has launched a new See Something Say Something program where anyone can scan a QR code placed throughout the grounds that will connect directly to the command center on site.

Police are also encouraging everyone to take photos of their young children and elderly loved ones in case they get separated.
